I grew up in a suburb of Chicago with my parents, two cats, and a dog. Yes, I am a (l)only child! I went to a huge and wonderful public high school where I danced, cheerleaded, and took all the science classes I could fit in my schedule. I then shipped off to the University of Pennsylvania where I majored in Biology and Psychology and graduated magna cum laude. Penn was the BEST. Although, I did tear myself away to study a semester at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. I was also in a ballet/jazz/hip-hop dance company at Penn. (I'm the one on the left.) After Penn, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the rest of life, but having grown up the daughter of a kindergarten teacher and a principal, I KNEW teaching would be a good bet. So that's when I applied for, was offered, and accepted the position as 7th grade math Teaching Fellow. Perhaps I know some of you from that year? ;) It was the most amazing experience. But being the curious one that I am, I wanted to try a career in acting and dance. So I tried it, was really unhappy, and decided it wasn't for me. One week later, Poly called. Their 9th grade Physics teacher, who was in the military reserves, had been deployed. At first I came back only for a few weeks. I loved it so much that I decided I wanted to stay through the end of the year. And wouldn't you know it, that wasn't good enough either. After a long summer of traveling in South America, teaching summer school, and going home to Chicago, I'm back for another year and could not be more thrilled.
